Femin-ICT Conference in Technopolis City of Athens

In a bid to address and dismantle gender disparities within the ICT sector, the Femin-ICT project is set to culminate in a groundbreaking conference at the Technopolis City of Athens. The event, scheduled for January 26th and 27th, promises a deep dive into the challenges faced by women in technology, exploring solutions and fostering a more inclusive and equitable industry.

The conference kicks off on January 26th at 10:00 with a welcome for all the partners and the attendance and  a thought-provoking panel discussion at 10:45 titled “Equity and inclusion in technology: challenges and solutions.” Experts from diverse backgrounds will converge to shed light on the existing hurdles and propose strategies for a more inclusive future in the ICT realm. Following the panel discussion, two immersive workshops are scheduled from 11:30 until 13:00:

Stella Kasdagli, a co-founder of Women On Top, will lead participants through a workshop named “Equality & Inclusion in ICT” and designed to explore and implement strategies for fostering equality and inclusion within the ICT industry. The session promises to be an interactive and insightful exploration of tangible actions to address gender disparities.

Lydia Manitsidou and Dimitra Gounari will guide attendees through an important discussion about, like its name says, “Surrounding Employees with Caregiving Responsibilities”. Recognizing the need for a balance between professional life and personal obligations, this workshop aims to provide solutions and support systems for employees juggling both.

January 27th, the second day of the conference, promises to be equally enriching with two more impactful workshops. The first one will take place from 14:00 until 15:00 and it has been named as “Gender Bias and Stereotypes in ICT Workshop Discussion”. Moderated by Pinelopi Theodorakakou, another co-founder of Women On Top, it will delve into the pervasive issue of gender bias and stereotypes within the ICT sector. The workshop aims to initiate a constructive dialogue, leading to tangible strategies for dismantling these barriers.

The second and last one of the day and conference will be “Recognizing My Values and Professional Vision”. Focusing on personal values and professional vision, this workshop aims to equip attendees with the tools to navigate and shape their careers in the ICT field. Magda Bakali, Project Manager of Stimmuli For Social Change, will be in charge of guiding the participants through a journey of equality and empowerment.

The Femin-ICT project’s concluding conference is set to be a landmark event in the ongoing fight for gender equality within the ICT sector. With a diverse range of workshops and discussions led by industry experts, the conference aims to not only highlight the challenges faced by women in technology but also provide practical solutions for a more inclusive and equitable future.
